Extracted sounds and music have their source game listed in parentheses – Residue. Stockholm-based composer and musician Linus Hillborg has an interest in compositional techniques born out of limited computing power and sample memory. Residue is a collection of weird, darkened and solitary sounds derived from such practices, including soundtracks and ambiences from early bootleg games – heavy on FM-synthesis, repurposed samples and microtonality – as well as music of past presents and future pasts constructed in a similar vein.
