This months show is in honour of the Kawliyah of Iraq. Kawliyah not used as a noun for a community but of an art form that has hugely shaped the music and dance culture of Iraq up until this very day. Despite this massive contribution to the arts, there is still a lot of marginalisation of the people who once shared these specific sounds and dances all over Iraq and thereafter the world. This hour invites you to embody and honour the sounds, the hair whipping, wrist turning, belly dancing and freedom of movement that kawliyah gifted us.
